Born in Santa Cruz Manila, Bonifacio Abdon was a violinist, composer, conductor and a teacher. He was the founder and organizer of the Orchestra Oriental. After two years, he became the first musical director of Asociacion Musical de Filipinas. In 1921, when the Manila Chamber of Music was created, he was one of its founding members. In 1920, he became a violin instructor at the University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music. Abdon used to direct orchestral groups and composed music for the Tagalog sarswela. He died in Manila on April 23, 1944.
