Rosemarie Gil is the mother of one of the Philippines’ best actresses Cherrie Gil. An actresse herself, she has starred in many films since her career in the 1950s. In 1958, she was given the title role for the film “Sta. Rita de Casia (Patrona ng imposible).” She did more films later in her career. She starred in “Night of the Cobra Woman” in 1972 and “Naked Vengeance” in 1985. In 1978, she was nominated Best Supporting Actress in the Gawad Urian Awards for the film “Burlesk Queen.”
She is married to her movie love-team Eddie Mesa. They have been separated for quite some time and then reconciled with each other. Her husband, Eddie, who is tagged as the Philippines’ Elvis Presley is now a born-again Christian preacher. They have three children who have also made a name for themselves as seasoned actors and actresses in the Philippine movie industry. Her only daughter, Cherrie Gil, is one of the best actresses who play villain roles. Her two sons, Mark Gil and Michael De Mesa, are equally seasoned actors, as well.
