Wally Gonzalez emerged in the 70's as a rock icon together with Joey “Pepe” Smith and Mike Hanopol. Together, they were collectively called the Juan Dela Cruz band. These three magnificent musicians awed the hippie generation with a taste of Pinoy Rock and Blues. Wally Gonzalez released two solo LP’s after JDLC disbanded (which yielded the epic Wally’s Blues). He received the Hall of Fame Award at the NU107 2002 Rock Awards.
After spending a few years away from the rock circuit, Wally Gonzalez has returned with the same old guitar magic with a twist through his new band, Wally Gonzalez and Friends. The band's repertoire ranges from classic rock, blues and the ever famous cover songs of the Juan Dela Cruz band.
