Jim Paredes
One-third of the legandary trio
APO Hiking Society along with Danny Javier and Boboy Garovillo, Jaime Ramon Paredes was born in Manila on August 31, 1951. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts at the Ateneo de Manila University. He became part of the APO in 1973. From 1975 to 1979, he was an artist and repertoire director for the JEM Recording Company. He was president of the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM) in 1989 and was a board member from 1986 to 1990. His classic compositions such as Batang-bata Ka Pa, Mahirap Magmahal ng Syota ng Iba, Panalangin, and “When I Met You” made APO Hiking Society an influential mover in Filpino popular music scene. He received Catholic Mass Media Awards for his compositions "American Junk," "Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo," and "Tuloy Ang Ikot Ng Mundo."
